Blacksmithing is a time-honoured craft that transcends generations, blending ancient techniques with modern innovation to shape raw metal into works of art. At its core, blacksmithing is more than just a trade. From the humble beginnings of heating and shaping iron over a fire to the intricate designs and patterns of the products you see on our site. Blacksmithing is a craft steeped in tradition yet constantly evolving, as our blacksmith pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, breathing life into metal and turning dreams into reality with each strike of the hammer.

I actually had my own blacksmith business for fourteen years and was in the process of closing it down when Greg invited me to join the crew at Davebilt. I brought metalworking skills that integrated into the overall business operations, and I couldn’t be more stoked that we’re now launching Davebilt Blacksmith together.
What sets Davebilt Blacksmith apart is our passion for tackling challenging projects that others can’t. We all have a unique flair for adding an artistic touch to steel, which makes our work stand out. The opportunity to carry on the artistic skill of blacksmithing, passing it on to future generations and delivering unique and high-quality products that will be valued for many years is invaluable.
My creative process involves understanding the client’s desired style and impression, incorporating their ideas with my expertise, and collaboratively crafting stunning pieces. I believe Davebilt Blacksmith’s commitment to excellence and innovation positions us as a leader in our industry, capable of delivering bespoke metalwork that captivates and enhances any space.

I’m from Estonia and started my career as an independent artist and I quickly became interested in the art of blacksmithing. I mastered my skills at Ultimo TAFE in NSW and love the creative process and the tradesmanship of this time-honoured craft.
As a blacksmith, I value traditional working techniques, and nothing beats the signature print that is specific to each piece of forged steel – no two creations will ever be exactly the same.
Every new piece starts with an idea or vision – whether that’s practical or aesthetic. From there, blacksmithing is a playground of possibilities and about finding the perfect way to bring a creation to life. It can be a challenging process, though, to harmonise these ancient techniques with modern styles, but that’s also how we bring these skills into the future. At the end of the day, as a blacksmith, I have to wield control over the steel to shape this tough material into something beautiful, functional, or both, meeting both the vision of my clients and how I envision it becoming material.

TBC I’ve spent decades learning my craft and just over a decade working with the Davebilt Industries team.
There’s nothing more satisfying for me than being able to bring something to life and do it right. Even though the process can be hard (and hot!), the time taken to design and reiterate the design process, testing, and finally producing a perfect piece for its intended use is incredibly satisfying.
I love the collaborative aspect of metalworking, especially the look on people’s faces when they see the finished product – I love that my work and craftsmanship are something to be proud of.
A thorough process for me includes checking at every stage, from design through to production, that I’m forging what the client wants. We might have to make tiny adjustments as we go because every project is different, but at the end of the day, I want to create pieces that endure, which means really nailing the craftsmanship from start to finish.
